so many Christians refuse to use it as the primary source of Old Testament quotations?

With so many versions, translations available to people, why is the Torah not used and accepted as Jesus did when he was preaching?

The translations usually the King James Version has been shown to have so many mistranslations and changes that it hardly makes sense to use it as an accurate source for OT.

I mentioned this on another Forum and got some serious reactions.

If the Bible is the infallible word of God then why so many versions and the differences between them? Some justify it as "inspired", but that doesn't wash.

Another argument I hear is God said this and God said that, but I don't see any proof of God saying anything. I see what man has written and attributed to God, but never any proof of God saying anything.

this reminds me of an exchange on Futurama between God & Bender:

Quote:
God: Bender, being God isn't easy. If you do too much, people get dependent on you. And if you do nothing, they lose hope. You have to use a light touch, like a safecracker or a pickpocket.

Bender: Or a guy who burns down a bar for the insurance money.

God: Yes, if he makes it look like an electrical thing. If you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

Faith is an interesting word.

When Jesus speaks of faith in the bible... i do not think he's talking about what we assume he is talking about.

He's acctually speaking of direct knowledge and not "belief"

The Torah is the OT. But the translations may differ.

I think you on it.

I also think people often mistake metaphoric for literal when they read sections.

I plan on posting some things I found soon.
