I find this amusing. Like so many facets of the jumble that is the Christian Religious Institution, it turns out they were wrong again.

I guess they've been venerating the wrong bone. What a laff!

Have you noticed that the RCC has been moving away from reacting to criticism?

They even are allowing Priests to comment more freely. A friend is always telling me that what they heard during a Mass, would have resulted in severe consequences if a Priest had said the same thing 20-30 years ago.

Now a much more free exchange of ideas are being brought out and many restrictions have been tossed out.

I think you're right there. I'm hoping that this is a trend that will continue through to all of "Christendom". Open honesty, transparent accountability and no more persecution of people who are of other faiths. T'would be nice.

I have always been a big fan of Joan of Arc.

The Catholic and Orthodox fascination w/ reliquaries has always seemed kinda gross to me... but then so has the not-so symbolic canibalism of communion (transubstantiation(sp?) remember?).. the transformation of the communion host to the literal body of christ is a major tenant of these churches.

It has been widely accepted for many years that many of the relics were fakes especially dating from the middle ages.

Personally I believe that after she was executed her body was desecrated and ashes spread and there is nothing left. On a side note: a remote viewer once told me what when viewing her death, she was acctually attached to the stake upsidedown. To me that pops a whole different connotation to her death.. but then that is neither here nor there.

Just a quick aside here...

I have heard that some people who engage Vampiric practices feel that the Blood (wine) consumption is vampiric.

Back to the regular topic.

well.. yea makes sense... hows this for a thought:

In the OLD TESTAMENT there are direct admonitions against drinking blood...

For example:
genesis9:3-4 wrote:

3Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
4But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

Leviticus 3:17 wrote:
It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood

Leviticus 7:25-27 wrote:
25For whosoever eateth the fat of the beast, of which men offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, even the soul that eateth it shall be cut off from his people.

26Moreover ye shall eat no manner of blood, whether it be of fowl or of beast, in any of your dwellings.

27Whatsoever soul it be that eateth any manner of blood, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.

Leviticus 17:10 wrote:
10And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people.

I think you get the point... you can also look at Deut 15:23, Acts 15:20, 29

But then we turn around to the NT and we see the following:

John 6:52-54 wrote:
52The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

53Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

54Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

Now going to another post and in semi answer to someone else... can a Christian at this point go back to the old testament and give any of the OT statements as a reasoning against communion ?

If people needed to eat Christ to get saved there wouldn't be much to go around LOL. Maybe that's where transsubstantiation came in. "Enough for everyone!" Personally I think that we are to literal minded sometimes when it comes to stuff in the Bible. I think this consumption of Christ is supposed to be a symbolic thing.
