If you havent been there yet, i recomend you check out www.archive.org

It's a wonderful repository of books and audio and video... many universities have submitted scans of their collections to this site. YOu will find many books available that are well over 100 years old.

Some searches I have done that were of great interest were the terms "Gnostic" and "Mythology" in the mythology section for example

an example of some of the titles that come up in mythology:

-The mythology of ancient Britain and Ireland - Squire, Charles - 1909

-The heroes of Asgard : tales from Scandinavian mythology - Keary, Annie, 1825-1879

-Sketches of the mythology and customs of the Hindoos - Forster, Georg, 1754-1794

-Mythology among the Hebrews and its historical development - Goldziher, Ignác, 1850-1921

-On the Indian sect of the Jainas. Translated from the German. Edited with an outline of Jaina mythology - Bühler, Georg, 1837-1898

-The dragon, image, and demon, or : The three religions of China : Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism : giving an account of the mythology, idolatry and demonolatry of the Chinese - DuBose, Hampden C - 1886

This is a very small example but it's a very rich repository and if you are interested in historical research (of many different types.. scientific, social, literary etc) It's a valuable resource

HAHA !

this is one of my favorite book titles on the list:

A popish pagan the fiction of a protestant heathen : in a conversation betwixt a gentleman of the States of Holland a deist by profession, and a doctor of heathen mythology : faithfully translated from the Dutch - Berington, Simon, 1680-1755

now _that's_ a title Smile... or is that a book in itself ? Smile
